Hotel Giorgione: A Hidden Gem

It can be overwhelming when booking a hotel in an unfamiliar area such as Venice, Italy. With recommendations from family & friends as well as our own research, we came across a hidden gem in the Cannaregio neighborhood: Hotel Giorgione. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel

Upon arrival, we loved the look of the hotel, even from the street at 9pm at night. The hotel had a bright sign easily seen from down the street. The hotel decor inside is very nice with Murano glass pieces on display throughout. The paintings were original and added a upscale ambiance throughout the hotel. Our room had a Venetian feel with a lovely balcony of the narrow streets below. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed coming back to this quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle.

Location, Location, Location

Hotel Giorgione is in a wonderful location – a quiet spot, but still close to the main attractions in Venice.

  • Cannaregio Neighborhood – The Cannaregio neighborhood where Hotel Giorgione is located is about a 20 minute walk from the main attractions such as Rialto Bridge & St. Marks Square. This meant that the neighborhood that the hotel is in is much quieter and a great way to experience the local culture in Venice. Venice is a busy city in Italy with many sights to see that attract tourists. We didn’t quite know how crowded it would be until we arrived and experienced it for ourselves – we were glad we had a quiet place to sleep in Cannaregio.
  • Great Dining Options – The concierge at Hotel Giorgione was knowledgeable on the area and  recommended some fantastic restaurants to us (See more details about these restaurants in our post on Venice). Many locals eat in this neighborhood as well, so of course, this is where we dined most of the time! Wine bars, restaurants & gelato were all steps away.
  • Vaporetto (water bus) was within a 5 minute walk and easy to access.

Friendly Staff

The staff was friendly, welcoming & helpful upon arrival. They gave recommendations for sights to see, restaurants and the best area to take a gondola ride. As soon as we checked in, we were given a tour of the hotel, lounge, breakfast area, pool & bar. After that the bell boy grabbed our carry on bags and we were escorted to our room.

Continental Breakfast

Breakfast was included in our stay and served daily. There was cold meats, cheese, bread, hot dishes, fruit, pastries, coffee and juice – delicious and plentiful. Two options were available to dine in. There was an indoor dining room where breakfast was served or you could choose to eat outside on the terrace near the pool. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful weather. This was a great way to start each day in Venice!

Pool-Jacuzzi

The pool-jacuzzi was quite a unique feature that we have never seen at any hotel before. Bigger than a hot tub, smaller than a typical pool, but just the right size for the occupancy of the hotel. There was never more than 3 people in a a time. With a bench around the interior you can enjoy a jet massage that provides a jacuzzi like experience. Additional water features provide soothing sounds to drown outside noise and allow you to relax. A quick dip allows you to cool off from a day walking around the city before heading out to dinner.
